Today, I am excited to have a new post in the Origins series where we hear from Admin Heroes on how they got their start with Salesforce. Today’s story comes from Matt Nesci. Enjoy!
In 2008 I knew nothing about Salesforce. I had been supporting a large call center for about 5 years. I was already very good at integrating systems and instilling best practices. However, I was ready for a new challenge.
A couple of years earlier, our company went through a minor reorg and our team was broken up and we were spread to all corners of the company.
As luck would have it our company choose to jump ahead first into Salesforce and my former manager was in charge of our Center of Excellence. Janet continually talked to me about the potential career opportunities that Salesforce could offer internally and externally.
Even though there were no current openings, it was just a matter of time before something opened up. I started going through the online classes to begin learning about the system.
A couple of positions opened up on the service side of the team. I was fortunate to get one of the positions.
Salesforce was extremely overwhelming. One of my coworkers had a great understanding of the nuances of our Salesforce system and was very helpful in the first year.
Six months into my new position I was able to attend Dreamforce. HOLY COW!!!! The power of the community, the innovation of the company and the energy left me in awe. I was hooked and never looked back.
Salesforce continues to impress me with innovation, the fearless pursuit of excellence and the dedication to give back. The Salesforce community has been a great resource of knowledge, tips and tricks and just pain great people over the years. I am glad that I am able to give back and share my experience with newer members of the community.
Matt – Thank you for your sharing your Origins story with us. You’ve personally responded to many of my forum posts with great feedback on how to resolve some of the challenges I’ve faced. I greatly appreciate all the assistance and support. I look forward to helping others in the same manner.
